SUMMARY

In order to communicate practical ways to move away from depending on a system that is designed to harm it’s people, I provided low cost options for people to start growing their own food.

PROJECT BRIEF

Pull together the concepts explored throughout the MICA storytelling course (such as audience, context, ideation, and visualization) into a cohesive data-driven visual storytelling experience–bringing data to life through a targeted, emotional story that resonates with the audience.

This foldable page lives in food pantries and free libraries in Portland, OR, and is made in mind for people who are overwhelmed by the state of the world and/or think they can’t make any meaningful change, but want to.

My goal was to detail the importance of care and mutual aid, specifically through cultivating community gardens. I went about this by juxtaposing the bleakness of capitalism with statistics of successful WWII Victory Gardens.
