SUMMARY

For one week, I tracked everything I ate (alone and with loved ones) and categorized it into flavor profiles.

PROJECT BRIEF

Design a visualization inspired by Dear Data
(a collaboration between Giorgia Lupi & Stefanie Posavec) with the MICA DAV cohort as the audience.

Goal: connect to one another through interesting data.

As someone fascinated by experiencing senses through other senses (as well as destilling something to it’s essence), I approached this visualization by first taking an extended amount of time to eat my meals. After really noticing what the food tasted like, I assigned the tastes a color, shape, and texture based on how they felt on my tongue.

I blurred every shape in the visualization - except for savory - to show that I ate that category the most throughout the week.

The marks for “# of times tasted/shared meals” have the texture of a wet brush because I wanted to incorporate the relationship between my tongue/taste buds to the food I ate.
